Currently I have a softlink that points the data/coverages to another
directory. I am wondering if there is an easy way to have a config
properties file that can set these paths without having softlinks (since
softlinks are hard to manage). I've noticed some discussion about absolute
and relative paths, but only saw the softlink approach:

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Not at this time unfortunately. I agree it would be nice to be able to
specify an alternate "base" directory for things coverages, shapefiles,
etc... Perhaps when the new configuration subsystem work lands on trunk
this might me more doable.
