I got a strange build failure this morning in gs-main as it found that http://localhost:8080/geoserver had wfs turned off - has the build always relied on the state of my local geoserver or is this new?
Turning the WFS service back on fixed the issue.

And now I discover that GWC fails with an “Address already in use” BindException that I haven’t investigated but suspect is 8080.

yeah, there are WFS cascading tests triggering if they find a WFS on port 8080

Yes, someone added a test opening a port in GWC lately, it fails if it
cannot allocate the port it wants...
never a great idea to create one of those, but when in need, it should pick
a random port and retry with
others if busy
