we're having problems with empty layer groups, as the WMS
code cannot handle them properly.
Now, imho an empty layer group is nonsense, it should not
exist in the first place.
Unfortunately the current GUI has a creation page that
basically forces the creation of an empty one,
and then redirects to the edit page (see attachments).
My plan would be to do like in the rest of the GUI, have
an abstract group page with full controls that then
is inherited by the "add new" and "edit" pages, and
that forces the group to be non empty via validation,
and then make also the catalog validation require
the group to be non empty and with a valid bbox.
I just though I'd ask since this would be a change
in the workflow
