Looking at
http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/extensions/rest/rest-config-api.html
in the Layer sections, building an Url for an existing layer, the table shows
DELETE returns with http code 405 Method not allowed
In fact, this works perfectly and is needed to remove a featuretype.
A discussion about this issue is here
http://old.nabble.com/Delete-a-featuretype-with-REST-td27042189.html
Should I modify the doc (2.0.x) and (trunk) ?. I think Justin has written the rest module ?

Yup, indeed a bug. Please modify the docs if you have them handy. Thanks Christian!
