Hey, thanks for fast feedback. The name of the layers is OK, he is provided by the IGN (the main Geographical Institute in France).
GeoServer seems able to handle WMS 1.3.0 as capabilities, at least that what I see on the right side of my web interface administration.
You deal about an authentification request. I know that, but the login:password has been provided to GeoServer when cascading the remote service.
As it is public data, I’ll give you the login:password if you want to test.

Hi,
Request looks good at the first sight. However, I am not sure if Geoserver can cascade WMS 1.3.0 nowadays. Documentation does not tell that http://docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/user/data/cascaded/wms.html
Yes, we should be able to.
I wonder also if GEOGRAPHICALGRIDSYSTEMS.MAPS is a valid WMS layer name. Are dots in names really OK?
But the error seems to come from the remote service. Perhaps authentication fails.
Right, I get an authentication request me too when using that URL
Cheers
