I've chosen HTML Output, and removed "Include comments" and "Backup Attachments", and everything else is selected.
This gives me a 37mb zipfile. Any thoughts?
It sounds like you are doing everything right; remember that often people attach crazy things to the wiki that you may need
to remove to reduce the 37mb zip.
I have ocassionally hacked away at the template used to export the html in order to force a specific XML help file format; but it is not something I have done to geoserver.
What I want to know is what confluence is GeoServer using these days?

Thanks for the sanity check. I'll look at it over the weekend, it should be okay if we attach the docs to the release a bit later.

We're currently using geoserver.org, in fact docs.codehaus.org has been down a lot again today. We realize there are some permission issues that we need to resolve, and we'd like the old pages at docs.codehaus.org to redirect.
Does anyone know how to let regular users create and edit pages? I have only had time to take a brief look at the confluence docs, and it wasn't obvious to me, but I will fix it as soon as I find time.

A clear decision on the matter would be good; I need to spec out some WPS design and would like to know where to put it so my work is not lost

They are in a group called confluence-users; give that group create and edit permissions. You may want to restrict the ability of that group from deleting pages.

We'll make sure to look through changes on both sites either way, but maybe put it on both if you can, and Geoserver.org if you feel like that's a waste of time (I understand). Cholmes?

Thanks, the problem was that I kept looking at global permissions in the admin section, I didn't realize that this has to be set on each space. Should be fixed now, don't forget to register with the same username as you had on Confluence at Codehaus.
