[Geoserver-devel] FOSSGIS Brasil Magazine

Hi All,

Many bet that it was all about an event, or maybe a new free and
opensource organization, but nobody yet has come to settle the real
goal of it. In recent years the "Free Geo" has grown and seconded as a
competitive option in the corporate market. As a consequence there is
an increase in demand for these technologies. Today there are several
blogs, lists and discussion forums in portuguese dealing with various
issues related to them and also providing free support to those
technologies. However, there was a lack in this free and open
geo-technologies new market: a specialized magazine.

In order to fullfill this claim, we are proud to announce the "FOSSGIS
Brazil" magazine. Some of the biggest names in geomatics and
opensource area teamed up and worked to produce a high quality
material, with solid foundations on the opensource and free software
community principles.

In this first edition, we start talking about related initiatives like
OL4JSF, a 100% Brazilian project, which is already a worldwide
success. Besides it we talk about OGC standards, the history of
opensource geo, GVSIG, GIS applications for mobile devices and other
exclusive content. Also, there is an interview with Gilberto Câmara,
general director of INPE (National Institute for Space Research),
which took place exclusively for this first issue of "FOSSGIS Brasil".

The magazine content is entirely free, and you don't really need to
register, fill forms, pay taxes or anything. Just enter
"www.fossgisbrasil.com.br" and get your copy.
We hope you enjoy this brand new initiative.

Best regards,
