I am unable to find any installation instruction for using "GeoClient with GeoServer (PostgreSQL/ PostGIS) " Can you help me about this? coz I had installed GeoServer and trying to find some client applications.

I’m using Resin+Postgres/PostGIS (pls. describe me as detailed as possible coz I’m newby. ) Very Thanks** in advance.

There isn’t a guide yet to using GeoClient with GeoServer (or with other WFSs, e.g., the latest version of UNM Mapserver). The main difficulty is GeoClient’s reliance on “vendor-specific” capabilities for formatting purposes. There may also be issues arising from (a) the specific GML parsing approach taken in GeoClient (e.g., doesn’t test for extra spaces potentially present) and (b) the fact that GeoClient hasn’t been updated for the 1.0 WFS spec.

A future release of GeoClient may eliminate reliance on the vendor-specific capabilities. Meanwhile, the basic approach would be:

  1. Install GeoClient and get a project working as per instructions with distribution (currently requires ArcView 3.x for data prep and export).
  2. Produce a GeoServer project with the same FeatureTypes as the GeoServerLite project.
  3. Open the file capabilities.php in the GeoClient directory, and edit the GetFeature capability to point to GeoServer instead of GeoServerLite.

If you don’t have ArcView you could instead try to produce a MySQL database with the fields and settings defined in the GeoClient documentation, but there likely aren’t enough details there yet… For more details on GeoClient design approaches, see my paper at the GML Dev Days 2002:

Note that the newest version of UNM Mapserver includes a WFS client function that can apparently be used to generate images from WFS input, presumably including GeoServer.
