[Geoserver-devel] GeoServer 2.0.0alpha1 scope narrowing?

So, in light of the (a) need to get the UI out there for some community feedback and (b) outstanding policy issues related to making the Wicket modules part of the release, I propose we just release the new UI as .war only, since this can be done without needing to touch the release process.

While I feel that releasing the .WAR only will limit the scope of who is able/willing to test the new UI (SourceForge downloads indicate that twice as many people download the .EXE than the .WAR), I think many of us would agree that it is still preferable to release _something_ rather than slog through the revamping of the release process for the new UI (which could take a few weeks). We'll end up doing that in parallel, but we'll get something out in the meantime. The new UI is worth looking at.

+1, I think anyone willing to try out 2.0 when its this young is pretty eager, eager enough to use a war distribution and not require an installer.
