[Geoserver-devel] GeoServer 2.0-RC2 help

Hi,
RC2 wise, here is an executive summary with the
short list of things I'd be glad to receive help on given
the day is over and tomorrow I'll be leaving for Sydney:

- pdf build failed. Don't know if it's the fault of my Latex
or if there is a real issue. We have no PDF docs
- people giving the artifacts a kick before we announce publicly
- announcements, on ml and blog

Any takers?

Cheers
Andrea

So, I got the latex docs building again, and fixed a couple of dozen build warnings while I was at it. I'm not sure what the proper way is to handle this update; shall I just commit against the tag? Anyway, the fixes are there on trunk, and I've put copies of the documentation PDFs in
http://atlas.openplans.org/~dwinslow/geoserver_docs_temp/ as I'm not able to upload directly to SourceForge.

As for the actual issues:
* there was one weird Latex issue
* .gif is not understood by (at least my installation of) latex, so please don't use them. (Note that Sphinx lets you omit the file extension, so you can provide multiple versions of an image and it selects the "best" one for each format, so if you really need a .gif in the HTML version, you can still do that.)
* Latex also doesn't understand image file links with multiple '.'s in them, so don't use those either. I updated the images in SVN to use underscores.
* The PHP REST Examples are not there. I imagine this is just a missed commit.
* The Image Mosaic tutorial was linked as image_mosiac. :frowning:

The artifacts work fine on Windows Vista, the only issue I found is that the ng one performs the installation correctly but later there is no way to start the GeoServer service, but this should be a well known issue I guess.

I hadn’t chance to try the .dmg artifact.

Regards,
Alessio.

I just tried out the OS-X, the bin and the war, and all worked fine. I uploaded David's pdf artifacts, hopefully they should show up soon.

I'll do the announcements shortly.

Hey Andrea;

You are probably on an airplane by now - thank you for all the hard
work getting this one out the door.
