Hi,
I had a try with bin-zip on Windows. It starts and based on GetCapabilities and layer preview works OK.
The old problem with login failing from some pages like the demo request page is still there.
There is something generally broken with the demo requests. Selecting demo requests from the drop down menu works until executing one request. The result appears into a pop-up window but after closing the pop-up it is no more possible to run other demo requests. The drop-down menu is there but selecting a request does not bring anything into the request window.
I managed to get some other errors with the demo requests when I had data_dir set into an old remaining data_dir at C:\Program Files (x86)\GeoServer 2.9-beta2\data_dir.
The error is attached, main issue seems to be:
“Unable to create C:\Program Files (x86)\GeoServer 2.9-beta2\demo.”

I am currently testing the OS X dmg, and will also test the system-independant binary. If others could test the artifacts on their OS of choice, that would be appreciated.
