[Geoserver-devel] Geoserver and https protocol

Hello,

I installed Geoserver on Oracle application server (iAS 10.1.3, Java
edition) and I would like access Geoserver using https protocol. When I
execute request (e.g., WFS_describeFeatureType.xml), I get this exception:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<servlet-exception>javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException:
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: No trusted certificate found
</servlet-exception>

Where should I tell Geoserver where to find trusted certificate? Is
something missing in iAS configuration or is it Geoserver WEB-INF/web.xml
issue?

Regards,
Vike

I'm not sure. I know GeoServer can work with https, but I've never heard this ssl handshake stuff. Maybe you just need to have a real, valid certificate? If you go to the https site with a browser does the browser complain about the certificate being out of date or not issued by a real authority? My guess would be this is geoserver's way of doing the same, it just doesn't offer the option right there to do the same.

If there's a way around that, I imagine it's more of a java generic thing, and your guess (or search) is as good as mine.

best regards,

Chris
