The GeoServer PSC has never verified or approved an official certification
exam, so there is nothing
actually backed by the GeoServer community.

That said, there are companies selling "certifications", so you can ask
them.
The value of the certificate is of course hard to evaluate, given there are
no rules about what kind of
training you should receive, what type of questions you should answer to,
and so on.
I'd say it's mostly related to how much you trust/respect the company
selling the certification.

I think there are a number of groups offering GeoServer certification. Our old website had a page for training (which was not being kept up to date). Perhaps check the http://geoserver.org/support/ page to find the group you are looking for.

I thought the Boundless was preparing an exam for certification in GeoServer.

And even has a preparatory course. So there is no official certification, is it? Do you think this will occur or the PSC has no interest in it?

my 0.02€ for this.

There are various companies involved somehow with GeoServer and all of
them (plus many others) offer trainings with certifications (e.g. we
offer that as well
http://www.geo-solutions.it/offer/professional-training/).
PSC could pick all of them or none of them as official certifications
but hardly some of them.

IMHO best thing is to pick none of them and not have to discuss/argue
about rules for being an official training and above all the return
(aka money) to provide for this title.
