We made a few updates in response to the feedback we have gotten so far.
Thanks for all your feedback!
The only issue raised that we could not completely address is the
FeatureType XMLSchema fragments.
It would be nice to dynamically create the form based on XMLSchema
primitive types but we simply don't have time this week.
I work in an Geoserver Web based Config, you work in this also.

It seems like we should combine these efforts. What have you done so far?
Is it with 1.0.* or 1.1.*? Are you using STRUTS or something else? Are
you working off of cvs? Does the proposed memory model sound good to you?
Refractions has a few people working to implement it right now, putting a
struts based web config on top of it. Do you have any code of what you've
done so far? I would like to see geoserver efforts coordinated, so we do
not replicate work.

That is great!
We are starting work on a GeoServer 1.2 branch. Are you a committer? I
work at Refractions along with two other people, we will be making our
initial release next friday. We are trying to have things wrapped up
before Chris Holmes leaves at the end of the month.
What did you think of our proposal? And which part of the configuration
process are you working on?
