Hi,
Camptocamp (the company I work for) is hosting the next OGC / OSGEO code sprint last week of April, in Lausanne.
Like every OGC/OSGEO code sprint, the goal is to improve how Foss support OGC standards.
Do you see any topic for GeoServer for this sprint? If you are interested to participate (on site or online), I will soon share the subscription link.

Thanks for the invitation Alexandre:
While I do not believe we have any participants wishing to attend in person - we may indeed be interested in attending remotely.
I had to hunt down your event details - thanks for adding it to the osgeo events list: https://www.osgeo.org/events/2023-open-standards-and-open-source-software-code-sprint/
We looked at a number of activities which may be of interest to the geoserver community in todays meeting notes.

Thanks Jody for the reply. I have seen the PMC meeting notes.
For the possible topics, what about making the ogc API community modules official extensions of GeoServer.
Another idea could be to create a new module on the draft routing API, together with a pgrouting based imply.

That requires both more resources than a sprint, and we are waiting on the CQL2 to stabilize.
If you know of interested parties we are enthusiastic about the work ahead.

Adding to what Jody already said: once a module to be available in extension, we need to take care of backwards compatibility
(users upgrading to newer versions should not find differences in behavior… this is not an absolute of course, sometimes we
must do that, but only when we have no other choice).
When it comes to OGC APIs, this means we can only rely on finalized standards. OGC API Features core and CRS are final,
but GeoServer also exposes CQL2 filtering, which is not finalized yet. Other services are finalized as well (tiles, processes)
but our implementations are either not up to date (tiles) or completely missing (processes).
Long story short, right now, we could move parts of OGC API Features to extension, but we’d also need to make the CQL2
filtering optional. While feasible… a feature service that has no filtering support seems of little value to me, I would not invest
time in that direction.
Cheers
