What is the status of the GeoServer project? I am trying to get a handle
on the various Java infrastructures right now, and things seem a bit
raggedy around the edges. The current geoserver code base looks OK, but
how does it correspond to the ongoing geotools2 effort, which seems to
be doing alot of infrastructural work which duplicates geoserver code
(filter support, for example). Geotools2 itself still seems pretty
ragged. I am trying to get a handle on current capabilities, planned
roadmap, etc, as there may be an opportunity over the next 6-12 months
for Refractions to apply some substantial effort to the project and
related projects. The apple of my eye would be an integrated
WFS/WMS/Catalogue service, which also supports the ESRI ArcIMS
protocols, and has several database backends.
Any info would be most enlightening, as I stand in a position of fairly
complete ignorance
