Hi,
i like to test my geoserver productive environment. I found this old wiki page http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/Stress+Testing.
Where can i find the source ?
btw. the images looks nice.

Hi Michael,
The official scripts that are used for the foss4g WMS shootout live here:
http://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/foss4g/benchmarking/scripts/geoserver/
However to run them it involves setting up quite a bit of data. I would recommend to download and install apache jmeter, and create your own test suite that is tailored to your exact data. It is very easy with jmeter to simulate very heavy loads on the server.

I do agree... just do not forget to use pseudo-random number generators (jMeter has them) to change the bbox in order to avoid over-estimating GeoServer performance (I know, GeoServer doesn't cache, but there are other components, like DBMSes, that may do it).

What we do at FOSS4G to ensure comparability is to use a script
generaring thousants
of random bboxes with certain attributes (such as min and max size,
included in the
data area and so on) and then store them in a csv file.
JMeter reads that file during the load, that ensures randomness but
also that the
various servers do the exact same workload.
In theory if we had a long enough series of request it would not
matter to actually
have a reproducable list, but in practice we cannot afford to have
servers run for
that long, especially since there are 6-8 servers participating to the
effort and the
testing server is just one
Cheers
Andrea
