Hi Sergey, hello list.
just forwarded to geoserver-dev list, to hear what developers think about.
Great that you push things forward! I just thought about what you are suggesting. In the past the process was like that: If any key has been added the developer copied it from GeoServerApplication.properties to any other existing resource.
Since we synched from transifex all untranslated resources are deleted in _xx.properties files to indicate untranslated strings. In addition : there is no synch-process from language files to languages team resource back to transifex.Having this in mind we can have potentually two different translations (in git and on transifex). The origin source would be overriden by transifex synch but can be reviewed in “pull requests”. Who can decide which is the best?
I’m pretty unsure about the best way how to handle conflicts.
On the other hand I would prefer separating translations from runtime code and provide jars for translations everybody can pick up/download for preffered language from e.g. geoserver.org. Those packages can be build separately and independenly from release-cycles. In addition, the user-community can maintain translations without having commit access to github and is a much lower/smaller obstacle for contributors like that.
Opinions?

Hi, Frank!
I’ve finally managed to run GeoServer in Eclipse. Now I’m looking towards improving translation.
First thing I’ve noticed is that GeoServerApplication_ru.properties misses some entries in comparison with GeoServerApplication.properties. So I’m going to sync them and make pull request.I could make some list with these differences - it would make syncing with other languages easier.
Is my plan OK?

Thanks for the invitation, but I’m already in the transifex team :). I’ve translated remaining 25% last year and asked you to include *_ru.properties resources to get Russian interface.
Now I want to go further and make pull requests by myself. So I will be tracking changes in the translation and I will be able to update repository if needed.
P.S. Hope my English is bearable

It would be great, if you can join the Russian transifex team. I totally understand your point. I see many advantages using transifex (if we can synch much oftener than now):
usage of a translation-memory (share already translates phrases between projects, e.g. master/stable)
usage of a glossary to make use of words in a same maner all over the modules
get “Non-Developers” / Users involved translating the ui
Hope it make sense and I can welcome you at Transifex

Thanks, Frank. I’ll try to be envolved little bit more and to do pull requests instead of just doing translation. So I will gain some control over it and won’t bother you every time :).

I’ve just updated Transifex Stable configuration to 2.7.x branch. From 2.5.x to 2.7.x the printing module moved from community to extension sub-module, the current configuration has been updated as well.

OK, I’ve found this text, but now I’m confused even more :). First, this text is in the GeoServer Master, not in Stable. Second, it is already translated for 6 month (but still is not in the interface). Third, it is translated by me, but I know, that I could translate it only in Stable (where I can’t find this text now).
I suppose, that now translation is going in the GeoServer Master. I also suppose, that languages are not updated with each release, but on some request.
At the moment GeoServer Stable Transifex is in sync with 2.5.x Release-Branch - which is an old release branch. There can also be a gap between transifex project resources from master and stable, I’m going to check it. If you have a path to the resource you expecting on master, let me know as a shortcut to configure resource in transifex project.
And you are right, there isn’t really a process to get resources synched back into git-repository before a release is build. Its more on per-request.
http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/developer/translation.html - here I’ve found, that .properties files is to be attached to JIRA.
Could someone tell me about process of translation please?

Hi List,
I’ve found some text in GeoServer 2.7 interface, which I couldn’t find on transifex for localization (for example, “NumberMatched skip” in layer publishing). I’m not sure if I should create ticket or report it somewhere else. Please, let me know what should I do in such cases.
