I have created a new pull request for this topic consisting of one commit only.
Regarding the GeoServer part (sort of cross-posting):
I will create a corresponding pull request. The GeoServer implementation (org.geoserver.wfs.xml.xs.DateBinding) is a subclass of the GeoTools implementation (org.geotools.xs.bindings.XSDateBinding, one of the classes changed by me). I see no reason for its existence. Maybe for historical reasons? I will just delete it and amend the registration code bringing it into play (org.geoserver.wfs.xml.v1_1_0.WFSConfiguration).

I suppose a new SNAPSHOT of GT has to be available in order to be able

Is a new SNAPSHOT released every night? Is it possible to release a
SNAPSHOT manually?
Nightly builds are released daily out of code already merged into the branch.
But also feel free to build a snapshot of yours and make it available for
download for others to try out
