[Geoserver-devel] [Geotools-devel] Modification for the REST Upload

Hi,

Out of curiosity, what happens if overlapping images are uploaded to an existing ImageMosaic? Will the new ones be drawn on top of the old ones? Will the new modification have any effect on this?

Ciao Jody,
no change on GeoTools (I removed GeoTols from my answers in fact) as far as
GeoServer is concerned the change is small and isolated and should not affect
users (unless they are uploading data to the ImageMosaic in which case they
would be happier than before  ).

Ciao Jukka,
if the name is exactly the same of an existing image, it will be
reharvested, updating the existing metadata and content.

If by overlapping you mean spatially/temporally/etc.. overlapping,
then the ImageMosaic does no magic.
Once you make a request it filters granules and then draws all of them
on a common grid, meaning that if they do overlap they are drawn one
on top of the other respecting the configured order (default order is
insert order).

In the end it is up to the caller to select what he wants to see
(although some magic could be done to avoid loading data we won't be
using anyway).

Let me know if this is not clear.

Simone Giannecchini
