Release Candidate
-----------------
Release script stuck:
unzip: cannot find or open geotools-11-RC1-bin.zip, geotools-11-RC1-bin.zip.zip or geotools-11-RC1-bin.zip.ZIP.
Are we going to ask build boxes to build two stable releases?
Yep - use jenkins copy.
GeoServer Sprint at FOSS4G 2014
-------------------------------
See http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Code_Sprint_Guidelines
13-14 September 2014
In person? Jody was keen but nobody else ...
Online? Ben is keen? Andrea too
Look at extending FOSS4G code sprint one day.
Action: Jody to follow the above guideliness for a Sunday extension to the FOSS4G sprint.
Ben will join remotely (Australia Monday).
Wicket Upgrade
--------------
Sprint topic - wicket upgrade?
Very hard to motivate the update .. even though it is really needed.
REST API too successful
Q: What is broken? AJAX Integration fails!
- IE 11
- Chrome Plugin Conflict
Q: What is happening with Wicket? Is it dead?
They are pushing releases, they are up to Version 6 (we are using 1.4.12).
Seems one of the top three (Spring, JSF, Wicket)
So Wicket is still viable, but we have fallen behind API changes.
Q: Do we rewrite or migrate? A: Migrate
Branch that compiles:
(Wicket 1.5) https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/commits/feature-upgrade-wicket
(Wicket 1.6) https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/commits/feature-upgrade-wicket16
However it does not work so QA cycle needed.
Goal: 3-5 developers for a couple days, and add testers
General Discussion
------------------
Jody having fun with Managed File API
- http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/ResourceStore+Design
- Encouraged to submit proposal before work Waiting for JDBCResourceStore proof of concept
- Or the other way around (other advice)
Andrea has is having fun with JDBC DataStore
- Forcing Spatial Index use via Hints (see mailing list dicussion)
Discussion on Mac build issues:
- GeoTIFF native reader returning RGBA (rather than RGB) - no fix
- Label Tests failing - look at adjusting threashold to account for anti-aliasing
Ratio of Bugs to Feature Requests?
- 50% of issues are improvement/feature requests!
- Should we kill any of these ... over five years old?
- Example: Running CITE tests with Oracle
- Expect many of these are duplicates
