TODO

  1. WCS EO

WCS 2.0 implementation, getting close to a basic implementation.

Basic WCS:

  • KVP bindings, XML bindings, geographic subset of coverage - that is it (!!)
  • does not even bother with an output format!

Extensions??

  • Earth Observation requires extensions for: different resolution, different CRS, different interpolation, band selection
  • Extension for GeoTIFF ← tiled geotiff, jpeg compressed, etc… (formal WCS extension)

Next year: netCDF etc…
Q: How for Input NetCDF? Offical netCDF bindings (java library wrapper)
Q: GeoTools? Output format no, input maybe? Not sure …
Q: NetCDF Climate and Forcast profile “convention” ← good they have one as if not netCDF is cRaZy!
Q: NetCDF 4? No idea …
Q: File size? Not very big, but moasic them, time / elevation etc…

Ben has some experience in this stuff.
Q: Ben can you review? Yes perhaps depends on holiday …

Lots of examples in Thredds vs NetCDF and WCS

  1. WMS EO

EO = Earth Observation

Layer Group forms Tree, root of tree is “preview” of layer (RGB) where was sub layers may be more full on (7 bands of content).

EO has gone a bit out of spec - folder acts as preview, the contents of folder can be a bit different … layer of foot prints, layer with bands (as dimension), and so on …

Mixing band by just picking does not really work that well, histogram adjusting and lookup table stretch are needed for good looking results.

  1. OGC Registration for GeoServer WFS 2.0.0

Ben: register GeoServer WFS 2.0
Resolve levels support? Not in app-schema

  1. Flat rendering from 3d sources post-mortem

Thanks, Andrea / Ben.

Ben has a tearDown fix - to remove system property?

CRS.reset(“all”)? Just drops all cached factories and resets registery - but does not clear hints or system properties.

Q: How about Perhaps a GeoTools.reset(“system”) as well? Make it closer to CRS.
Q: CRS.reset(“system”) ← suggestion
Q: Update developers docs ← to use Ben’s suggestion, or to use CRS.reset(“system”)

New CRS.reset(“system”) → wipe out everything?

Completed:

  • SDOTest is back
  • sample data 3D available as property files
  1. Incubation catchup

Jody was pestering the different teams for an update, GeoServer is almost done.

Related work:

  • AA: Blog post to thank code sprint team

Q: Are we done?

We are waiting for mentor / mentor is waiting for us (to say we finished data checks).

Q: Are we finished data checks?

  • GeoSolutions data checks out —> update the README.rst file and close the issue
  • tasmania? Action item from last week - “JD: check provenance of states and Tasmania”
  • states? Action item from last week - “JD: check provenance of states and Tasmania”

Q: Justin was checking on “TOPP vs OpenPlans” for headers (if the organisation changed name we should change headers)

  1. Action items from last time

  • AA: check license of raster data we’re shipping with GeoServer (done!)
  • DW: GEOS-5420 scripts documentation (done)
  • JD: check on TOPP vs OpenPlans (no progress)
  • JD: check provenance of states and Tasmania
  • AA (JD to review): Blog post to thank code sprint team
  • AA: Take backport items to mailing list for PSC vote
  • JD: pick back up on no-xerces proposal
  1. Dexercesification
  • waiting for Justin
  1. WMS CITE client post-mortem

Jody opened a few items and Jira.
uDig getting certified as WMS client

Test tool: proxy server in the middle, which looks at the communication between
client and server and report any message out of the standard.

Ben: register GeoServer WFS 2.0

I created an account on the OGC site:
http://external.opengeospatial.org/implements

Unfortunately, it appears that it this registry does not distinguish between the identity of the registrar and the registrant, so any contact details are the details of the person who does the registering. Sigh.

One workaround is to have a GeoServer account with its own email address; I think it is best if this is an OpenGeo account. As we already need his input on what he implemented, I plan to play pin-the-tail-on-the-Justin.

Kind regards,
