GeoServer 2.20.1
Reminder, going to start early and release on the 18th; please check for any outstanding PRs this week:
- Will update website release layout to link to github release (rather than jira) see below
Copy and paste release to GitHub
Example 2.20.0:
-
https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/projects/GEOS/versions/16828/tab/release-report-all-issues
-
https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/secure/ReleaseNote.jspa?projectId=10000&version=16828
-
This page is not visible unless logged in
-
New workflow is to cut and paste markdown from here to … somewhere
Recap from prior meeting and contacting jira support.
-
We can no longer link to release notes (can still extract them if logged in)
-
Question for the mailing list: Does anyone have experience scripting Git releases so we can automate this process as part of the regular release process
This affects all past releases as well - if we can automate this it would be good to move those to GitHub as well.
- Action: Copy release notes for active branches, and update website release layout
Translations workflow
This is being discussed on the user list; would love to know the results of experimentation and see if we can organize some build targets to fetch translations as a Jenkins job.
-
Lots of discussion on email list
-
Andrea is offering to make a language changer
-
Andrea can you make this in the top right corner … perhaps near login?
-
May also be good near workspace selection … see welcome page GSIP?
-
Question:
-
Could we set this up as part of nightly?
-
Do users sit down and translate everything? Or a little time …
-
Do we maintain per branch? Or only translate
main
branch … -
we are pretty much starting from scratch so
main
is good -
Ask translators to test nightly build
-
If we only do main branch there is a six month delay before user see result
Jukka has some experience using the website.
-
half translation is not useful at all, very confusing
-
users translate word by word, but do not have context for how that appears on screen
The build chain workflow needs some research, to pull out properties files.
- Jody has limited experience with command line
Discussion:
-
Documentation updates? could use a screen snap update party
-
Any guidelines on screen snaps? not in documentation guide
-
Use FireFox, Developer Tools, “Laptop with MDPI screen” resulting in a 1280x800 screen
Research:
CITE Sprint / Maintenance Sprint
Jody does not have capacity to organize yet; although it would be nice to do so this year to take advantage of 2021 budget allocation.
If CITE sprint is not organized GeoSolutions had an idea to do some days of maintenance in November?
OGC API Sprint
Mid-november, anyone attending? https://portal.ogc.org/public_ogc/register/211117api_codesprint.php
OSGeo member nominations are open
See list here: https://www.osgeo.org/about/charter-members/
-
Check for recent committers to see if we can nominate anyone
-
