Documentation Transition to GitHub Pages (or OSGeo hosting)

A script exists to copy docs zip for GeoTools:

We should be able to modify this to support copying GeoServer docs zips to OSGeo hosting

OSGeo also gives us the benefit of being able to host .x docs (whereas Github Pages would only provide enough storage for stable, maintenance, and main)

Documentation index page and linking translations

We have an index page recovered: Deployed from main branch to docs.geoserver.org:

Tasks:

  • Good timing with release coming out

  • Can we link the translations - next to stable | maintenance

release candidate / release

Releases are ready, and tested enough for an RC.

  • Some automation improvements for geotools (see build/build.xml ant script)

Blog posts review:

  • GeoTools blog post is ready

  • GeoServer pull request is in progress, use simple release notes and andrea can work on pretty for the final announcement

We need a volunteer to do the actual GeoServer 2.20.0 / GeoTools 26.0 release … this weekend

  • We could delay a few days for RC testing

FOSS4G

State of GeoServer ready to be filled in with slides

Announce “CITE Sprint Fundraising” at foss4g.

  • Use “cost recovery” to encourage participation from companies etc…

Proposals- GSIP 205 - Add Style to LayerGroup - working on implementation now

  • GSIP 204 - Rendering pre-process Mark Factories extension point
    Discussion settled down, we approve now? We may need a +0 to reach 50%? Okay, we are good now …

  • GSIP 202 - Welcome Page Layout - approved, ready to work on :smiley:

  • GSIP 189 - Control remote HTTP requests sent by GeoTools \ GeoServer

  • Stuck, the stale box closed the PRs

  • Moved to Deferred

Pull requests / issues for discussion:

  • Layer preview warnings (GEOS-9950) - Search for a PR? No fix yet …
