[Geoserver-devel] Getting issues in for 1.7.2

Hi guys,

So there are currently 4 open issues on the road map for 1.7.2 with your names on them:

GEOS-2496, Move geosearch module to core distribution
GEOS-2520, Bring Imageio-ext extension to supported status
GEOS-2534, Non-cached Virtual Earth and Google Maps support through GWC
GEOS-2296, Add ECW support in the GeoServer downloads

I would like to start the release process tomorrow afternoon (PST), so that should give you guys all of the working day to get the issues resolved. If you can't get the issues in by tomorrow please push them back in jira.

Thanks,

-Justin

Oh hum... uh? Ok, I guess we need to better specify the release dates
When we said "we'll release in two weeks" I had in mind next week, and
that, to me, meant more or less building Tue week and releasing before Friday.

I mean, no real problem, I should be able to fix my outstanding stuff
today, and if I don't manage to, I'll just move the rest to 1.7.3,
no big deal, just that this caught me off guard so for next time
I think it would be nicer to everybody to know some days in advance
the foreseen "freeze and build" day.

Cheers

Umpf, first I wrote mid week, then corrected to Tuesday and forgot a
word of the last sentence there. But anyways, you get the idea.

We did discuss it in IRC and a specific date was picked. It also states the date on the road map directly... so it was not intended to be a surprise.

That said, we can amend the process to send the warning email further in advance. How many days before the planned release would you like to see?

Cheers

Sigh, I really need a vacation...

Sounds like a good idea. 2-3 days?

Same for me. I have initially understood the next week. Therefore, I’m running to try to fix everything for tomorrow afternoon PST.

Ok, seems like there was some miscommunication, my apologies.

It seems like people would like a bit more breathing room for the release. That is fine, we can push back a few days.

So what do people propose as the freeze date? Should we call it Monday?

It would be great for me, so I can still work on it a bit also on the week end.
What are the opinions of the other guys?
