Looking over now - not sure I will have much to say.

Just a point of annoyance for me with the github wiki - can we use the following for GSIP links:

GSIP 121 WPS process security

The resulting URL ends up as:

https://github.com/geoserver/geoserver/wiki/GSIP-121

Hmm.. Travis has been quite unreliable with our builds, as you can see one
our of 3 actually worked, one was killed because it took too much time,
and this one failed to locate the jar.
Those jars are actually available in the OSGeo repository:
http://download.osgeo.org/webdav/geotools/it/geosolutions/imageio-ext/imageio-ext-tiff/1.1.10/

The main issue I see is that Travis downloads all dependencies every time,
so it's quite prone to failure due to network glitches.
There is an issue here:
https://github.com/travis-ci/travis-ci/issues/1441

and something here:
http://docs.travis-ci.com/user/caching/

but it's not clear to me how to make the maven repo get cached...

If you are on a paid account you can enable maven dependency caching pretty
simply by adding the following directive to the .travis.yml

cache: directories: - $HOME/.m2

If you aren't on a paid account you have to roll your own. Something like
this:
http://hgc.io/2014/08/26/Caching-Travis-CI-dependencies-in-S3/
(with a few tweaks - it's nice for the openssl based invocation of the S3
rest api)

basically tap into the before/after script hooks - take a hash of all the
pom's in the pocket, and check to see if you have an S3 object ID that
matches the hash - if so, download that object (should be a .tar.gz of the
.m2 repo). If not download repo like normal, and if a build success tar
it up and post it to the s3 bucket. Next build will only have one S3
download instead of multiple maven repos. I use the pom hashes in this
case as a "has anything changed" signal (i.e. download from maven)

That would be nice, unfortunately not our case, nobody is sponsoring the
Travis build, as far as I can see Travis Pro is
rather expensive (well, expensive enough that I don't think anybody is
going to pay for it out of his/her personal pocket).

If you aren't on a paid account you have to roll your own. Something like

Right... hum, it might work, the S3 free tier allows 2000 put operations a
month,
and we'd end up doing a push for each build I guess. However, that will only
last us a year... the main issue is that the GeoServer PSC does not manage
any money, so we're basically locked out of any option that requires
payments
of sort.

Anyways, it sounds like a good plan. To make it work we need to secure
funding
to make it work, and a volunteer to setup a
shared Amazon S3 account that everybody in the PSC can manage,

Cheers

Well, I did write to Travis and they gave me a recipe to get caching going,
there is a new build
flag that enables a new build infrastructure where the caching is available
also on the free
tier:
http://docs.travis-ci.com/user/workers/container-based-infrastructure/

Added the flags, it seems to be working ok

Well, I did write to Travis and they gave me a recipe to get caching going, there is a new build
flag that enables a new build infrastructure where the caching is available also on the free
tier:

Added the flags, it seems to be working ok

Cheers

OSGeo does have some funding available if we feel we need anything. Mostly projects have used that to set up a code sprint or similar.

Right… hum, it might work, the S3 free tier allows 2000 put operations a month,

and we’d end up doing a push for each build I guess. However, that will only
last us a year… the main issue is that the GeoServer PSC does not manage
any money, so we’re basically locked out of any option that requires payments
of sort.
