It will be possible now to:

Include external static HTML into the login forms (and therefore homogenize the standard GeoServer Login Form button with the new APIs)
-
Include Logout Button Handlers as extensions like the Login ones
We have enough votes already, but I’m here asking to make another final review and give an “OK to go” to the PR.

(more technical) The current login button is a form with fields. The proposal is for links to endpoints redirecting to external login pages. Modifying the actual login button in order to be compatible with the new API means basically to introduce more complexity and render full wicket panels with custom controls. We can do this, but it will require users to write also custom code for the login buttons instead of a simple XML configuration.
