Dear Jody,
I am going to give +0 since I trust you want to make this module grow
and thrive, but accordingly to our rules I should vote -1 to not set a
precedent.
Let me explain, in reference to this requirement "The module has at
least a “handful” of users" you state the following:
- It was include in Boundless Suite, not sure how many users?
- GeoCat is committed to supporting our customers use of this module,
but wishes to see the functionaly incorporated into core or set up as
an extension first.

This to my eyes means that you have no real users ( I kind of remember
we used to ask for 3 of them?) but you are asking to promote it since
you deem this extension important.
I know this is a little bit of chicken-egg issue, but if you do not
have users using this maybe it is not the right time to ask for it to
be come an extension.

Anyway, as I said, my vote is +0.

I understand your perspective Simone, in this case I am trying to be strict with a new-to-me customer base that functionality needs to meet community standards before GeoCat is willing to offer support. And you are correct I have no insight into boundless’s dwindling customer base.

So I understand your perspective, perhaps I am being too strict. I just do not want to see “important” functionality languish as a community module because our GeoServer PSC polices are too strict (in making extensions) or too lax (in including community modules in the build to support commercial customers). The same tensions exists with OSGeo incubation process, once a project is “included in incubation” there is little incentive to do the hard work to finish.

Ciao Jody,
I understand your position and that is why I gave +0 and not -1 but at the same point we have rules to standardize behavior.
If you think the rule is wrong, we should discuss on how to change it like we are doing with GSIP-186 so that everybody agrees.

So, I would suggest to go and propose a change rather than trying to do a relaxed interpretation of the rules which makes them useless.
