[Geoserver-devel] GSIP 29 - GeoSearch Module

Hey all,

I would like to open GSIP 29 for feedback/voting.

Hi David,

Some of the formatting seems a bit off on that page.

A couple of questions. In terms of the code base what does this entail? Moving rest and geosearch modules to core? What is the current test coverage of those modules?

Thanks for catching this, fixed on the wiki.

Added these q&a's to the wiki, copying here for convenience:

Jdeolive: In terms of the code base what does this entail? Moving rest
and geosearch modules to core?

The geosearch module depends on the rest module, so both need to be
available, yes.

Jdeolive: What is the current test coverage of those modules?

rest: 46%

geosearch: 49%

Cool, thanks David. Taking another read over it the proposal is for an extension, whereas I was under the impression that it would be a core module?

Also it would be nice if the proposal linked to any available docs on how to use the geosearch stuff.

At the time of writing I was concerned that the userbase for the module
was not enough for core status; however, after reviewing GSIP 22 I see
that there is no distinction in the requirements for core modules versus
supported extensions (and geosearch does have the required number of
users). I will update the proposal to reflect this.

Also it would be nice if the proposal linked to any available docs on
how to use the geosearch stuff.

Adding this as well. Again, link for convenience:

Looks good David. So i am +1 on this. Hopefully we can get enough votes in by Monday to include it in the 1.7.2 release :).
