[Geoserver-devel] GSIP 5 - Release Process

It has been discussed that the PSC should organize releases to better coordinate between branches. Here is the start of a proposal for handling releases and versioning:
http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOS/GSIP+5+-+Release+process

Please discuss and edit the wiki.
Also read Jakarta's page on versioning: http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/releases/versioning.html

And before this all comes into effect, I'm going to sneak out a 1.3.4 release, heh =)

Well I have read the page, Thanks for including the note requiring a geotools release, it should help both legally and socially.

As seen on the geotools mailing list there is a bit of a crisis of credibility that we needs to be addressed.
I hope to produce a plan for geotools with Andrea, and then we can shop around for volunteers/time/funding.

The conventions documented seem to fall into line with maven use (helpful). In an ideal world I would like to see a geotools
released in the last week of a month, with geoserver (and uDig) coming out on the month.

Please discuss and edit the wiki.
