[Geoserver-devel] GSIP 73 - Call for vote

Hi all,

I would like to push GSIP 73 to the final voting phase. Thanks to those who already voted and those who submitted feedback.

http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/GSIP+73±+Workspace+Local+Styles+and+Layer+Groups

So unless any more concerns or negative votes come in the next few days I plan to commit the work.

Thanks all!

Everything looks great to me. Sorry for chiming in late, been away on
vacation and still catching up on stuff after that.

Question: how do local ws layer groups play with wms requests? are
they to be called as <ws>:<name> and advertised as such in the wms
capabilities?

Cheers,
Gabriel

Thanks all!

Nothing really changes. You still just use the single name. When making a global wms request you only have access to the global layer groups so there is no need to qualify. If you are making a workspace local wms request then the qualifying workspace is implicit and the layer group specific to the workspace takes precedence.

As for the WMS caps doc you bring up a good point i never considered… currently if you have a global layer group / style with a name and a workspace specific one with the same name you will see them both show up in the capabilities doc under the same name. This goes to something Jody brought up and having the local workspace one be a true override. I will look further into this case.

Cheers,
Gabriel

Thanks all!
