GSIP 8 has been out for 2 weeks now and all feedback that has been given
has been incorporated in. The only thing remaining is an integration
plan which Chris has volunteered to write up.
So I would like to wrap this up and start the voting process.

Bleck - sorry to be so busy. Apparently I will have to review this tonight.

moreover I have set up some cool configuration stuff for GeoServer based on XMLBeans which works great while working on the Ingestion Engine … maybe you are interested on having a look at it … it also, of course, backward compatible with old configuration files.

That would be great. If you could point me at some docs or code I would
be happy to take a look.

Thanks Justin; this stuff looks great. Makes a difference when the proposal has code behind it.
Perhaps we should do this kind of thing more often; make a branch - try out a proof of concept. And then use a proposal to bring the idea home.
I do have one request - that we kill the GeoTools catalog interfaces as they stand now and bring them in line with the needs of this config proposal. uDig can adapt to whatever is needed for GeoServer config.

Cool, yeah we should get rid of all the catalog stuff on gt trunk. There
is no code depending on them now i believe. Perhaps some of the demo
code, i seem to remember. However they were officially released in 2.3
no. So I think we may just have to deprecate them this time around?
