[Geoserver-devel] Handling incomplete logging switch

Hi all (Hi Saul :)),
as you may have seen on the devel list, we're aiming
at a release early next week. At the same time, I see
no work has been done against GEOS-1021 and GEOS-1022,
and I would like to avoid rushing in a solution last
minute.

Talking with Justin, it seems we can switch between
the old logging system and the new one by just commenting
out a directive in web.xml and reactivating the old
log config code which still seems to be there.

So, I'm proposing to move a real switch to commons
logging to 1.5.2 (and try to address GEOS-1021 and
GEOS-1022 early in the 1.5.2 release cycle) and
for 1.5.1, to just go back to the old, rusty but
tested and working code.

Opinions?
Cheers
Andrea

Yep, I saw the email this morning and I think that's a great solution. Was thinking that we'd talk about it tomorrow at the meeting.

I'll try getting something tested this week, and then committed before 1.5.2 goes out.

To be honest, I didn't think 1.5.1 would go out so fast!
