[Geoserver-devel] Help needed: showing messages both at top and bottom of UI pages

Hi,
a common complaint about the UI is that error messages are showing only at the top,
making them hard to find on small screens and/or when the page is not scrolling up upon
submit (ajax submits).

Now… how about this instead?

However… I’ll need some help to make it “right”:

  • The change touched several pages, can we tag-team to test them? (I’ve checked a few already with no issues)
  • Some community modules were affected that I’m not that familiar with, can respective interested parties have a look at the changes and see if they work?

I almost prefer it near the apply / submit buttons where the action just occurred.

Andrea,

I tested out the changes for the GeoGigSettingsPage changes and it looks fine to me. I didn’t test much of the other changes however.

You mean, on the same line as the buttons? That would require a change in
each and every page (since they do provide their own buttons, each in their
own way).

I mean I like it at the bottom of the page (more than the top), since that is closer to where the apply and submit buttons are.

Some pages have regular (non ajax) submits which cause the page to be
reloaded fully and move to the top.
So having it both at top and bottom is important.
