[Geoserver-devel] help with geoserver

Hi Kevin,

I think transparency only works when requesting specific image types (GIF and PNG).

Here is your geoserver serving a JPEG into uDig

Here is your geoserver serving a PNG into uDig:

So change your program to request an image format that supports transparency.

Hi. You may be the wrong person to ask, but no one else publishes their email address anymore.

I have Geoserver 1.3.4 running (i know it's old, but I'm just getting back into using it) and it seems to work fine.

...snip...

However, I'm loading my layers into a program that has an existing basemap I notice that there is always a white background for the bounding box of my layer. I've read the tutorial on SLD, but that only seems to apply to the points being drawn. How can you change the color of the background and in particular make it transparent. Thanks for any help.

Kevin,
Jody already gave you the solution, but I have another suggestion for
you. I assume you don't want to subscribe to the GeoServer users
mailing list because your mailbox is already full enough with other
stuff.

That's ok, there is Nabble to have the best of both worlds.
Subscribe to Nabble, locate the GeoServer archives, ask Nabble to
subscribe. This way you'll be subscribed but you won't receive
mails in your inbox, and if you post messages thru Nabble,
it will inform you when somebody answers them
Sounds interesting?

Cheers
Andrea
