Hi,
For me Firefox 33.0 was unusable until I changed to this config option from about:config
layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled;false
Updating nVidia drivers was the final solution.
It had to do with https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1089183
However, that made some web page elements to flicker and should have affected only Windows users so it can be something else.
