Hi,
I'm working on the REST Layer About page in the geosearch module.
Since it is going to be a fairly public facing thing, I've been
working with OpenGeo's design team to get some input as to how to make
it look attractive and consistent with the rest of GeoServer branding.
This requires a couple things:
(1) Some images for the page, like a "Powered by GeoServer" image and
some icons for different file formats. I'm bringing this to community
list because I don't have core commit rights, but after talking with
Justin about it it sounds like the easiest and perhaps only way to
serve these images with GeoServer is to put them in the main /images
directory of GeoServer. So I'd like to ask for permission to commit
these images.
(2) Changing the default OpenLayer navigation icons. It is the
consensus of every designer and every person who I've talked to who
has had to look at or use OpenLayers that the default icons used for
navigation, panning, etc. are a woeful eyesore. Again, for the sake
of coherent branding of the REST page, I would love to use a new set
of icons--icons the design team is thrilled to provide for us--that
are prettier and perhaps greener. The easiest way to make this happen
is to swap the new images into the images directory used by the
OpenLayers code that is widely used throughout the webapp. If done
this way, it should make the entire GeoServer map previewing
experience more pleasant. But since this would be a change that goes
beyond the scope of the community module I'm working in, want to ask
the community for permission first.
Thanks for you time,

Hi Seb,
This all sounds reasonable to me. I say go ahead and add the images as you need to. So +1 from me.
Anyone else object to this?
