[Geoserver-devel] Importer/Monitoring REST API thread safety and backwards compatibility concerns

Hi,
while looking into old bug reports I’ve found by accident that all the
importer resources are not thread safe, as they use a REST wiring
that is not unless the resource classes are declared as prototypes in Spring:

The fix is easy, but I wanted to make sure no more of these problems pop up,

so I’ve modified BeanResourceFinder so that it rebels and throws an exception
in case a thread unsafe setup is detected:

This one one gets an exception with details of how to fix the issue while running tests, or if there
are none, at the first GeoServe startup.

Do you see issues porting this change backwards? Should I maybe remove the check for the backport
to 2.8.x and 2.7.x?

Haven't heard back on this one, I guess nobody is overly concerned.
Just merged on master, and going to backport (over the weekend) on 2.8.x
and 2.7.x without the check that would make
the tests/startup fail for non thread safe setups
