I’ve just tried out the new installer and it rocks (mostly) - my only problem was that I have many geoserver installs on my machine and so the installer found an existing data dir and wanted me to use it, there was no way for me to say no ignore that and make your own data dir, as the new geoserver dir doesn’t exist yet I can’t point to it.
Ian
PS could the new installer also offer to clean up my old geoservers?
Hi Ian.
You can tell it to use the not-yet-existing data dir. Say you're installing to C:\ProgFiles\My17thGeoServer, if you (manually) type in the path to the data dir as:
C:\ProgFiles\My17thGeoServer\data_dir
the installer will bypass the existence check and assume that you want to use the new dir as the data directory. I agree that that should probably be made more explicit. (JIRA?)
Thanks,
