[Geoserver-devel] Integration Showcase Machine 1

Hey everyone:

I am going to try and round up some hardware to showcase geoserver at FOSS4G 2009. The trick is I want to have this machine up and running before the call to workshops goes out (ie in a couple of weeks).

How does the following hardware requirements sounds? I have had one suggestion to go for more disk size already.

PS. On the bright side it looks like we are going to get plenty of data this year; the OGC is treating this as their main involvement in the conference so we are likely to get some proprietary stacks in the mix as well (I hope for oracle and DB2 so we can show off integration).

Good Afternoon,

Mark and myself are going to try and set up the first integration showcase machine; as I would like to have a sample server to point people to when the call for workshops goes out early next month. Sticking with what we are comfortable with this machine will be set up with MapServer/GeoServer/PostGIS and such sample data as people actually donate in time (I am hoping for a range of raster and vector data).

So the question is ....

How is this for machine specifications (based on this I am going to go and try and round up the hardware).
- 512 G Disk RAID 0
- 4 gigs ram
- 2 cpu (2 core each)

We can go bounce this off the mapserver, geoserver, postgis developer lists but I though I would start here.
