[Geoserver-devel] Is geoserver documentation written in docbook?

Geoserver people,
Do you use docbook to create the documentation at:
http://geoserver.sourceforge.net/documentation/index.html

For the mapbuilder project we want to produce documentation with the table of contents on the left and contents body on the right similar to what you have done but we are unsure how to convert docbook into this format.

What XSL and params do you use?

I wouldn't mind doing this in docbook, but I really want it to be laid out something like this with a sidebar selecting different sections; I think this makes it much easier to navigate.

Yes, I agree that it looks good.

The docbook stylesheet only puts it out into one big long page. This could also be done in PHP (each section is just a bit of HTML), or else a docbook model and set of widgets might not be too hard to implement?

Docbook have a large number of options and stylesheets and it is quite
likely that one of them will allow putting a sidebar down the side.
If not, it probably wouldn't be too difficult to either modify the
stylesheets ourselves or copy someone else who has.
I suggest that we ask the geoserver people what they did because I think
they wrote their documentation in docbook and they have the sidebar titles
you are aiming for.

I'm a little concerning that you are writing the docs using JSP because it means that docs can only be displayed on an ISP which supports java.
(This excludes sourceforge).
Would you consider another format? (My preference is

docbook, but I'm

open to suggestions).
