[Geoserver-devel] Japanese Localization

Hi all,

I have just applied the patch to allow Japanese localization (and any other multi byte languages). Special thanks to Akira for the patch.

I was hoping that Akira and some of the other developers which use native languages other than English could do some testing for me to make sure I havent hosted the internationalization system. I have done some hand testing changing the perferred language in my browser and it seems to be fine, but you just never know. The help would be much appreciated.

The change has been commited and is available out of svn. For those interested without svn access I would be happy to build a war file for you. Thanks.

I am glad that a Japanese patch was received in geoserver and was able
to contribute to the project a little.e$B!!e(BThank you for your test.

By the way, I found one more problem. It is that some source's letters are displayed
strangely, when it was downloaded the source of MapPreviewAction.java in Japanese
windows2000 or windowsXP.
It is the source code parts that it was written in French in line No. 425 and 443.
For a strange part of this letter, builded in Ant and carryed out Preview Map
in "Mini-map preview of the enabled FeatureTypes" of geoserver, parse error occurred
when made config.xml.

I think the cause is that one part of French character was not able to encode adequately
in SJIS code which is Jananese nomal character code.

Probably such a problem may occur in a part except English such as French if source
codes are distributed in ISO-8859 for multi-byte environment.

Please distribute it by removing a French part from the source code.

I will support geoserver test in Japanese environment as possible.
