A couple times in the past week I've seen people put legends up on Google Earth datasets. The functionality could be kind of nice, and we already have the getlegendinfo operation, so this may be easy to do. Should have an easy way to turn it off and on - maybe even a client side setting? Just wanted to put something in jira to investigate. See:
