Now the database is in a hidden place (hidden dir in the user home), already two different reports may make us think that its creation failed and could not be fixed automatically. At least, with the db in a know place, we can tell people what to try and delete.
Moreover, sometimes it may be that the user home does not exist, and that a temp directory cannot be found or be writable. The user must guarantee the user directory is writable instead, so that's a safer place, too.
