Look into asynchronous log4j logging, to improve logging performance on non-debugged systems

Key: GEOS-1217
URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-1217
Project: GeoServer
Issue Type: Improvement
Reporter: Saul Farber
Assignee: Saul Farber
Priority: Minor
Fix For: 1.6.x
Check out whether RollingFileAppender can be taught to log in a low-priority mode, rather than as soon as the logging call is made. This might speed up performance, at the expense of not seeing log messages in 'real-time'. Possibly add a logging configuration option for this to the UI.
