MetaTiling on google maps only works when zoomed in

Metatiling on google maps demo isn't working when zoomed out, on the states demo. When you go to lower zoom levels it kicks in. We're holding off on the 1.5.2a release, if you could get this in that would be great.
The plan right now is to release 1.5.2a monday, so we can see if any further issues pop up.
