[Geoserver-devel] [jira] Created: (GEOS-3162) OutOfMemoryError

OutOfMemoryError
----------------

                 Key: GEOS-3162
                 URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-3162
             Project: GeoServer
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 1.7.5
Environment: 1.7.5 with mysql plugin. On Windows Vista.
            Reporter: Jonathan
            Assignee: Andrea Aime
         Attachments: evil_polygon.sql

I have a very "simple" polygon (4 vertices) which is also very large (covers a sizeable chunk of the globe). It's stored in MySQL and accessed using geoserver a regular datastore.

When I try and access it from Google Earth via WMS and KML (not kml_reflect), or even just OpenLayers - Geoserver crashes with an "outofmemoryerror" Java error - it uses about 1.8GB before running out of RAM (there's 4GB on the machine).

The offending polygon can be created with the attached sql. The start and end vertices are in NE Australia, the other three are in Wales, UK.
