Website upgrade
---------------
Key: GEOS-393
URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-393
Project: GeoServer
Type: Bug
Reporter: dblasby
Assigned to: dblasby
Fix For: 1.3.0
Chris and I have been planning on overhauling the website for 1.3.0. This included cleaning up whats there, plus adding new documentation. Here's what a user said (amitkulz@anonymised.com):
Is it possible to ask your two trainees to create a prominent HTML link
"What is Geoserver?"
Inside that link have nice pictures (fit on page, simple colors), what
it can do, sample configuration on how it should be used (i.e Geoserver
+ PostGIS/Oracle/DB2 etc + uDig/another_client).
You will have more people using it, if you make it easy for them to
figure what is what. This is very important. Start logging on what page
is accessed the most. Please check and see if my hunch pans out.
Is it possible to have Geoserver website hosted only on sourceforge or
codehaus to remove ambiguity/confusion? If not possible, is it possible
to maintain exactly similar files on both using rsync?
I worked for a brief while on requirements analysis and UI design back
in the boom boom days, and I figure I am better off because of it.
