Justin you are getting the nod to define the API (you have practice 
), if you can work with gabriel to define a minimal api that is caters to what ArcSDE can do.
ArcSDE uses its own query system, and will be more limited then SQL.
Gabriel if you get to this need first, just go ahead and ask Justin for review.
Justin will you be using the DTO to seperate out geoserver from the config app (and from the format on disk?). Or will the ui modify
the datastore used by the running GeoServer?
The initial estimate is 3d - because this is only a java interface.
