TextSymbolizer legend doesn't show when issuing a GetLegedn request
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Key: GEOS-667
URL: http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-667
Project: GeoServer
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: WMS
Affects Versions: 1.3.x
Reporter: Luca Morandini
Assigned To: Gabriel Roldán
Priority: Minor
Fix For: 1.4.1
Gabriel Roldan replied to my post in the users mailing lista as such::
<<One way of doing it would be that provided that each rule in an SLD doc has a
name properly set, we could use that name for the text sample at the right of
the legend graphic.
But due to the way the spec is set, I guess that wouldn't be the best
solution, since if you have a StyledLayerDescriptor with more than one rule,
your WMS client can ask for the legend graphic of each specific rule and take
care of laying out the legend itself. This way, though it imposes more
complexity to the client, both a web based client or a rich client could
completely manage how they present the legend, regardless of how a particular
WMS implementation behaves (since how to build the actual legend graphic is
almost left to the WMS criteria)
In the later case, I guess we could create the normal legend graphic with a
single letter on top of it with the rule's configured font to represent that
symbol is accompanied of a TextSymbolizer and how does the text in labels
look.>>
